One teacup setting is untouched; the other side has been consumed. This is a desperate grasp for a connection that once was. I keep a name, a story, and a life alive with every conversation. I know they aren’t here, but I trust they can hear. I invite them to my kitchen table, the home within my heart.
Artist Statement
"This selection of paintings explores my experience of navigating loss through the domestic space of home. I wade through the fear of how short and unpredictable life can be, as the presence of absence is suggested. Home is a place that allows vulnerability, and the fragility of life is expressed through this setting, combined with its delicate subject matter. I continue to reflect on how intense losses have shaped my life and offer comfort to others through how I visually communicate this inevitable journey."
