EXHIBITIONS
My series of paintings in this exhibition are a visual representation of music.
I create my pieces by dipping string into paint and moving that string across the canvas to the rhythm of the music I listen to, either by tapping the string down on the canvas to the beat of the music, or dragging it across the composition. Every movement is informed by music. I build up the painting working over several weeks. I work in layers, sealing each coat with clear medium so that certain parts of the background maintain their integrity so as to bear equal importance to the top layers, creating a visual symphony.
Because music is produced through vibrations emitted by instruments, I use colour to illustrate vibration by placing high frequency colours next to low frequency colours to further illustrate the subject of music.
