FLECK FINE ART EXHIBITION
DAVID ADSHADE "New Gold Dream"
Size: 48 x 60 inches
Medium: Mixed Media on wood
Created: 2023
New Gold Dream represents a culmination of 15 years of experimentation in industrial abstraction, oxidation and graphic design. Blending these elements and blurring the lines between fine art and design creates a unique impression of aged oxidized metal in iron, bronze and copper contrasted with a contemporary edge after applied mixed media.
Oxidation, Rust, Paint and Life.
These elements go hand in hand together as each try to reign supreme over one another. That’s what it comes down to in my ongoing series of works, OXIDATION. Explore with me the process as we see the deconstruction of our everyday materials such as acrylic paint, venetian plaster and latex to name a few. Combine that with metal reactive paints of iron, copper and bronze, when activated, create a rusting or patinated finish, unfolding the fleeting beauty that is temporarily captured as a result.
Such is a metaphor for life.
He who allows his day to pass by without practicing generosity
and enjoying life’s pleasures is like a blacksmith’s bellows:
he breathes but does not live
