Reconstructing Hope

About the painting:

After a historic closing of Disney Theme Parks across the globe from Covid-19, the house of mouse has some trust rebuilding to do. This work features a famous flying elephant statue made out of brass, being taken through the air by 5 zeppelins (mimicking the 5 crows that helped him fly in the original animated film). I wanted to try a grand painting of clouds and avoid detailed landscapes for this one to give it an uplifting, positive feeling. He is made of brass - like the Mickey Mouse statue in an older painting as I wanted him to have some weight and strength against such a bright backdrop. -Todd Lawson
