ARTIST STATEMENT
The title of this piece may be slightly ironic. First, let me explain my process: When I paint I have no plan except “attack” (which isn’t always a reliable plan). Naturally, results may vary. What usually happens is that whatever I’ve seen, heard or thought about that day comes out a bit in the work. In this case, I was thinking about the lies we tell ourselves... and the world. And then a bunch of mask-like faces appeared in the painting. And if you notice, none of these masks are relating to one another. Which is not exactly a “perfect conversation” (unless that’s your idea of one.) Is this a political statement? Let’s talk...
