HEATHER PEGG "Love on Both Sides 1"

Acrylic on Board

40 x 30 inches

After a recent trip to the Finger Lakes in Geneva New York, I was struck by the beauty of the lake and the trees that line the shore. I was told by locals, that many artists have painted these trees and I could see why.

The image in “Love on Both Sides 1” while showcasing the appearance of the trees, depicts love, loss and the relationship between the two. The painting offers a place for reflection, solitude, and possibly, a connection to another world. It is also rooted in the here and now as the large tree reaches out of the frame and connects to the branches in the partner painting.

In “Love on Both Sides 2”, a man no longer young, walks the path once walked together with his love.

The titles are inspired by one of Joni Mitchell’s most famous songs, “Both Sides Now” and specifically by the line: “As every fairy tale comes real, I've looked at love that way”.

These two paintings will also be part of a series of six paintings called: “The Light of Day”. Each painting will be painted with a different light effect at three different times of day.
