Mike Rachlis is a painter living and working in Toronto Canada. Since graduating from OCAD university in 2013, Mike has been hyper productive, channeling his creative energies into two fine art genres; The Portrait and The Floral. Like the renaissance painters that he often evokes, he paints his canvases using oils, but his brush work is entirely his own. He moulds and shapes his subjects with a painterly energized freedom that is palpable and then often hybridizes his paintings with graffiti like strokes of spray paint and strategically placed counterbalances of colours in pastel. Like a Willem de Kooning or a Mark Rothko his work can frustrate reason and stand as a thing that makes sense all on its own. Mike Rachlis' paintings are in two words, Modern Masterpieces.
