“Losing the Light”
With each piece, I try to capture a moment, the feeling of a particular time of day. The electric blue of “Losing the Light” illustrates the cold evening air creeping in as the warmth of the sun recedes into the distance.
Artist Statement:
Matthew Gagnon is an artist and illustrator from Montreal, Canada. His current project is a series of pop art landscapes with an emphasis on geometry and simplicity. He finds inspiration in the stillness of everyday life, and the interplay between light and dark. His pieces combine elements of printmaking, painting and illustration. They are made using acrylic paint and technical drawing pens.
