FLECK FINE ART EXHIBITION JUNE 2022
LILLIAN CHOW, Beauty & Growth
An African American woman is standing still behind a wall of iris.
There is a feeling of movement and stillness working together simultaneously. As the woman is standing still, staring out towards her audience. The iris represents movement and growth, as the flowers are slowly blossoming.
The one flower that has opened, is dull and already losing the luminescent glow of the blue iris.
The representation of beauty and growth is encompassed in the aging process of each life. The blossoming flower represents the loss of youth and the prime of our own beauty that slowly slips away. The makeup, white nails and pink dress represents the youth and beauty we continue to attempt to hold on to.
